When I open an image from bridge into adobe camera raw 6.1 (Photoshop CS5) on my pc, the camera raw window fills all of the screen (top to bottom) and the buttons at the bottom of the window are below the task bar. Thus I can't open the image in photoshop except by hitting the enter key. I can't reach the open, etc buttons. The window won't resize and there are no icon/buttons in the right upper corner to go to/from full screen. When I hit the icon in the top right hand menu bar in ACR (to go to full screen size) the window then fills the whole width of the screen in addition to the height, but no matter what I do I can't get the height of the window to shrink, so that I can access the icons at the bottom of the screen. What am I missing?
i have just got a new pc and monitor,the monitor is a DELL u2410 and the pc is on windows 7 64bit,the drivers are all upto date,Thank you karen
Ooh, that's awkward!
I'm using CS3 but to the right of the preview button in ACR, there is the toggle to full screen button. Can you toggle it back?
Failing that, I wonder if it is your screen resolution set up? I'm using a Dell and if I right click on the desktop and go into the Nvidia control panel, I can change the screen display scaling. I wonder if this is the case with your screen? Might be worth a look.

i just checked and a guy had the same problem, and he said he got it sorted when he knocked off the windows aero features.
worth a try i suppose
tried the aero thing and no joy,i suspect it's to do with my resolution,but i can't fix it,my pc and nonitor are both 3 weeks old,the monitor is a Dell u2410 and my card is Nvidia gt 220 and both support 1920x1080 res,but on the screen res on windows it only goes up to 1280x720 but can't set it at that,everything is small and distorted,so i have it on 1024x768,and it's showing a generic non-pnp monitor,and on my Nvidia control panel,it's got recommended 1920x1080 but in the pc at the bottom it's got my native 1024x768,all the drivers are up to date,so i don't know what the problem is,thanks karen

If your window is maximised, then clicking on the "Restore Down" icon (the one next to the "Minimise" icon) should allow you to then resize the window to suit your screen. So long as you don't maximise it again, it should remember your sizing whenever you re-open the program. Where you have a window within a window (e.g. an image window within a program window) you might have to do that with both.
Your Dell u2410 monitor should be set to a resolution of 1920 X 1200 ....!!!
That said if your OS & graphic driver are not showing the correct identity of the new monitor, Then I suspect you have not loaded the " Dell Monitor " drivers....!!!
For the OS & Graphic card driver to run the monitor properly, They need the correct driver for the monitor installed, This gives the system the " INF " file and the standard factory colour profile should be included, Though the ICC is often customised by your colour management software like Spyders or Eye Ones etc.
Find your way to the DELL support pages for your monitor, Then look for any " Updated Drivers/Firmware revisions " etc, Then download and apply as applicable.
Just to be on the safe re install the graphic driver afterwards, Then make sure the resolution is set to 1920 X 1200 and max out the colour bit, With the correct drivers by default the correct " Refresh Rate " will be applied......!!!

Just looking at your screen snapshots tells me that many things are NOT correct, The " Refresh Rate " for example is miles out.....![]()
hi thank you for your reply,
i can auto hide the taskbar,but i don't want to have to do that,
there is no buttons on Adobe raw page for me to minimize of close etc and i can't drag it with the arrows to the right size,
i did download the drivers from Dell,made sure they were the correct ones,made no differance,then downloaded the drivers for my graphics card from Nvidia and now the control panel is gone!and the problems are still there,thank you karen
Try This......Go to your first screen print and where it says click on advanced settings click that......This will then bring up a graphics card menu which controls your resolution rather than windows itself......at the bottom of this menu click "all modes" which will bring up a whole list of screen resolutions so pick the one your monitor is rated at and then click ok........(as mr cameracat has said it should be 1920x1200)
All should be then be correct.

Windows is not recognising your monitor correctly . . . which means that the drivers on the Graphics card can't set the resolution it should. you can tell that because when you look at your first screenshot it says Display - Generic Pnp Monitor.
Try This
Load the driver -
* Download the monitor driver to your desktop
* Doubleclick the downloaded file from your desktop
* Unzip the driver into its own folder on the desktop
* Open the Device Manager -
XP = Press the Window key and the Pause Break key. Click Hardware. Click Device Manager
* Click the icon left of Monitors
* Double click the monitor listed
* Click the Driver tab
* Click the Update Driver button
* Click No, not at this time
* Click Next
* Dot Install from a list or specific location
* Click Next
* Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install
* Click Next
* Click Have Disk
* Click Browse and navigate to the folder on your desktop that has the unzipped monitor inf file
* Click the monitor inf file
* Click Open
* Click OK
* Click your monitor and the port your using (DVI or VGA)
* Click Next
* Click Finish. Restart the PC. Once into windows, check the video resolution. Can you move it to 1920x1200?
hi did all that,when it came to the part "click your monitor and the port your using (DVI or VGA)"this is what came up-

so clicked on the top 2 and the last one and it's still the same apart from the name has changed but not to my monitor,but it has in Device manager-

thank you karen
