What can I say, it's all moving so fast these days.
I got it and it seems to be quite excellent... spending the day playing with this for sure.
...and before you say it, I know it's been posted already but seeing as Adobe's other main product, photoshop, has become a standard tool in digital imaging, I think this news can survive being repeated!
Cheers

You are not alone, the Windows Lightroom Forum has had quite a few similar postings.
Also, I have no idea what this means, but apparently you need something called "XP SP2"
Quote: And like the MAC version it is slow beyond belief!!!!!
I assume Keith you have a well specified Mac, so what is it that you think makes it so slow?
I've just had a look on the Lightroom forum, PC version and found this statement
Quote: *We have not reached our performance goals on Windows and continue to work on improving speed in all aspects of the application.*
so Adobe are aware of the problem - let's hope they come up with the solution.
Some plus points for me - I like the simple way of ranking image, keywording and keyword searches (with or without the ranking modifier) are quick and simple, the crop and straighten tool works well.
Not so good so far, the zoom tool is clunky and erratic, its very slow doing the Development adjustments and some of the tools are not obvious - like when you crop in Development mode you can't see the cropped image until you move back to Library mode (leastwise, I can't find the way of doing it - double click doesn't work and there seems to be no Apply option)
I could come to like it though - think
Hope they crack the optimisation as I've seen the Mac version on a very high spec m/c - and I like the intuitivity of the interface.

Just de-select, untick, the 'Show Crop Overlay'
Are you also aware that having created the 'crop' you can fine tune it by moving the image around behind the overlay and not by moving the overlay itself.
he, he, went to the forum and it appears a bit of a mess for Windows users at the moment.
From a couple of comments I saw, it is possible that my problem might stem from the fact that I moved the "My Documents" folder to a different location (a more reliable and backed up server). LR probably cannot handle the "My Pictures" folder, normally within My documents, being located off the local system drive.
Hope thats is not the case, because I'm not about to move all my files back onto my Widows machine for one peice of software.
Anybody looking for a fast and cheap picture editor might want to try exifpro. Free download available. Licence ony $20.
I have found it a very useful tool for viewing and tagging large volumes of images.
