Just to diversify- I am thinking about changing my 17-85 for a 24-105L,this would involve selling my 70-200F4L as well to finance it.
The 70-200 just doesnt get a lot of use.
Do folks find the 24-105 not wide enough on a crop camera ( I have a 7D) and dont have a wide angle lens. The other lens I have is a 100mm macro.
@steve_p - I currently have the 17 - 85 and was planning to upgrade to the 70 - 200 f4 IS. I was going to use this lens for candid street as well as sports photography and the occasional landscape. What type of photos do you usual take and why are you decreasing your focal length?

About a year ago I traded my 17-85 in for th 24-105 L. It was a great decision as I just love the lens, and what I gained at the long end is more valuable than what I lost at the wide end. Of course I still have a sigma 10-20mm if I want to go wider, but I don't tend to use that lens quite so much as I used to.
Ben,
I normally take landscapes more than anything, which is probably why I dont use the 70-200 much. I took it on holiday a couple of weeks ago and took 4 shots with it. I am only thinking of selling it to go towards the 24-105. I don't really need the extra 95mm.
