I'm actually sorting and tagging as well, although only about 45,000 images....

I'm very lucky and manage a team of librarians at work and one of them couldn't stand the state of my drives and offered to sort them out for me. It's great. It came about when I was asked for a photo I had taken in 2008 and I had to search random folders until I found it. Soon I will be able to type in a keyword and bingo. It's also turned up 137GB of duplicate images!

Did you have LR3? I have LR3 and was thinking of starting with that, then upgrading to LR4 - I presume LR4 works happily with an LR3 catalog?

It will read an LR3 catalogue but I think it wants you to update it so it could be tricky to share between 3 & 4

That's OK, I just didn't want to start it in LR3, upgrade and have to do stuff again

Quote: Some of the photos we found that I like most are of my daughters when they were very little taken on my crappy phone from about 6 years ago.

Many years ago Nikon had a slogan which ran (something like) "The history of the world is being recorded though Nikon lenses".

These days the history of the world is being recorded though the lenses of.................... camera phones!

Family history too.

True but I'll take my Nikon lenses over any other all day long.

Yes, but you probably won't have them with you when that unrepeatable moment happens! Wink

I always have my camera with me now - and my mobile is a 4 year old Blackberry so not the best camera on it!
