You must watch this amazing YouTube video - an absolutely incredible talent.

This is a young Ukrainian girl, Kseniya Simonova, who won her country's equivalent of Britain's Got Talent with this sand art story depicting Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine in WWII

That was one of the most moving things I have seen in a very long time.

What talent - and from one so young...

    Thank you for sharing this.

That is so humbling , superb.

You see I must be missing something, I think she's talented but I can't say I was moved by it. It didn't stir any emotion in me at all. She is talented and it's clever. I guess I don't know the story she was telling or even the country she was from which I am sure would give it more meaning.

Perhaps you didn't read all of my opening post - she is from Ukraine and she is telling the story of Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine in the second world war. Wink

Its about the fluidity of art , conceptualisation , raw talent.

The accompanying music added a moving time line in history.

Guess you missed all of that.

And why would the country she came from , give this any more meaning for you ?

    This is the story:
She begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting holding hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear and the happy scene is obliterated. It is replaced by a woman’s face crying, but then a baby arrives and the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss Simonova throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman’s face appears.
She quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad, before the image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier. This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house. In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass, saying goodbye. The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in Ukraine , resulted in one in four of the population being killed with eight to 11 million deaths out of a population of 42 million.

No I didn't, it opened full screen and went right into it so I didn't see any intro text. The context adds to it.

    ...such an incredible talent :

I have just watched my third viewing of this video since it was posted, a wonderful talent, a piece of recent history re-enacted before your eyes through this young ladies skills, to watch the reaction of the audience relates to you how deeply they are moved. A well done to Cole excellent explanation.
