Mike, have you tried Lightroom? If so, do the edits that you make in NX show when imported into LR?
I keep toying with the idea of getting NX. I did trial it 2 or 3 years ago, was very impressed with the Control Points.

I use LR as my primary RAW handler Steve. That said, LR will open a TIFF file.

So... the inference is that, if you correct exposure issues in NX using the CCP functionality, one then has to export in TIFF format from NX.

I fail to understand the benefit of then opening that file in LR? Happy to be corrected here if I've missed something but I see no benefit. Smile

There are some tutorial videos on the NX website.

Not got the link to hand, but if I find it I'll post it later.

www.123di.com will give you, for a small price, an e-book animated tutorial covering NX, and all the PS programs from Elements to CS3.

Mike, I use the LR Library to organise and view my NEF files (and just a few jpgs and tiffs). It would be handy to view an NX edited shot in LR without having to convert to jpg or tiff.
I've pretty much eliminated jpgs and tiffs from my workflow (thanks to LR), other than the occasional shot that needs more serious adjustments, and those that I want printed.
    Cheers.

OK, found the answer, as I suspected...can't be done Sad

Having used NX now for three weeks, I have come to the conclusion that it is the biggest pile of over-hyped crap known to mankind.

and designed by a four year old.

    Wink

Come on Keith dont sit on the fence........

Well I almost totally agree with Keith, but I think it was written by a computer geek looking to show off new toys rather than solve the problem of processing RAW files.

    Actually here's a question.

I have heard that if you process RAW files in NX, then the in-camera sharpening setting is applied! However, if you process in something like LR or C1 it is not. Anyone know for certain. Not tried to find out from the NX manual, just wondered if someone knew, cos it seems a bit strange to me.

By wrapping them up in the worst interface...it was like stepping back in time.

One thing I did notice was the amount of noise that NX introduces. Shots taken at iso 400 showed nasty little doughnut atrifacts, which were not even visible when viewed and processed in C1v4.

well cheryl and keith reading your comments on the noise issue, etc, etc. nx is comming off the pc tonight. the only thing i dont like about lightroom, wich i also have. is that you cant put a disc in that contains raw files, and open them up in lightroom. i think that is a bad move from adobe. as i have loads of backed up dvd,s containing raw files, that i cant do anything with in lightroom.
