I am thinking in investing in an A3 Printer - and the Epson R1900 seems to fit the bill in terms of price and features.
I have been checking the reviews (including the excellent one on here), which seem a bit mixed. Is there anyone out there using this printer, and if so what do you think?
My main question is about the 'Hi Gloss' ink set used in the printer. Does this limit the print to only be used with Gloss media, or can it also give excellent results on Matt and Semi-Gloss media?
(Note: I notice that the Canon printers have been reviewed well, but the Canon ones do not seem to include the option for a Roll feed, and this is an important consideration for me, as I am looking to produce panoramic prints)
My daughter (climbing_orchid) has the R1900 and as far as I know can print on any paper. I know she is very happy with this printer.

I have the R1900
I have the Marrutt Lyson CIS
I use Lyson Paper with their profiles.
The results are excellent. I would recommend without hesitation.
I would however suggest you also look into Ontinuous Ink Systems as they can give you huge savings on the cost per print. (Up to 70%+ in some cases)
PM me if you would like more details.
That's good to heart as I have the printer on order ![]()
A numbeer of reviews and early comments reported on 'banding' in the output - but further searching suggested that this might have been a problem with early models. Recent comments are much more positive.
I am thinking about a continuous ink system, although I will see how I get on with the first set of carts. Which system do you use? Did you notice any changes in the prints?
