Thinking of buying the 50-500 (bigma) is it better to go with the APO version.

Would have thought 'APO anything' would be a better choice than without...but Mike's answer is shorter.... 
APO lenses reduce the purple/yellow fringing thats aparent on achromat telephoto lenses.
The longer the focal length/faster the apeture the more of a "must have" APO becomes.
APO lenses also tend to be "crisper" than achromats, with better definition and contrast.
