Just something I have noticed, recently when I have been adding photos on a Sunday I seem to get very few views/ comments etc.
I'm guessing that its a hot time for when people are loading their weekend's work but its really putting a downer on my experience on here.
The last 2 photos I submitted barely got a look in, which I am really disappointed with, I would much prefer having some overly critical responses than no responses at all. The community seems to work most of time and I am grateful for all the response I get but just seems unfair, especially as I personally make a point to give my views as much as I can and view as many photos as possible.
Is anyone else having a similar problem?
Well thank you for listening to my winge
Cheers
Matt
Hi Matt,
Im having the same problem, you put a photo on its gets about 10 views, maybe a vote and no comments. How do some people on here end up with views in the hundreds and so many votes, i dont think my photos are that bad......are they??
How can we gain more views? Is there a secret?
Nick

Opens popcorn and settles in to watch the Show...sorry matt not aimed at you but every week this question is debated
Says a lot about the magnitude of the problem then Kev, but as ever its one without an obvious cure. And Nick there is nothing wrong with your photos, they're pretty awesome, actually quite jealous, I'll find some time later to have a good look through them.
Thanks people for at least noticing my thread, at now I not im not completely invisible.
Matt
Personally i use this site for learning and i personally have learnt a massive amount since i joined 3 years ago when my photography kicked off.
I would say if you are worrying about clicks then your not focused on the real issue of worrying about your photography.
What do you want a click just to make you feel better or true critique about what is right and what is wrong with your photo.
Try putting your image on the critique section if you want true value out of this site and if you want to learn more as there are many of us here that are willing to help you.
This subject has been around since this site opened I am sure of that and since i have been on here i have seen this subject and ones like it rear there heads and quite frankly speaking it is getting tiring.
You need to think outside your box and use the site for what it was intended, the other issue here is of course when you upload an image here you are hoping that people will comment and vote on it but like any other sites i know if your image does not appeal you cannot expect or force people to comment or vote on it, so this is the reason i say put your images in the critique section and let qualified people help you.
Personally i didn't even know you existed and there is the other issue so i suppose by writing on the forums has just made you more exposed to us here on EPZ.
I had the very same problems when i started to be fare but as you get on here and use the forums, comment on others photos, get inspired by others photos, try new things, put images on the critique section you eventually get noticed, however if you hide in the corner and don't put your self about then of course no one will know who you are.
Hope this helps a little and you can extract the positive side i have tried to put down here.
Thank Ian for the response. Even though it was quite brutally honest, it is exactly the response I was after. You have given me a few things to think about and in essence i agree with everything you have said.
In response to you sayin that the issue becomes 'tiring' I can appreciate that from your point of view, but from relative 'newbies' the issue is fresh. Like the vast majority of people on here I put a great deal of effort into my photos and this thread is the culmination of bad response and Monday morning blues, finishing up with a deflated frustration in the site which I was blown away with at the beginning.
Exposure definitley seems like a problem, and as far as the comment about worrying about 'clicks' quite frankly shows you have got the wrong end of the stick, if you look at my initial post I did write that i would rather have an overly critical respsone that none at all.
But you did address this by suggesting the Critique section, so thank you I will probably try this with my next upload.
Well thank you for taking the time to respond, as always I am grateful for all contributions
Cheers
Matt

Ian's got it in one and I'll concur with everything he's just said.
If you want to know why a mediocre, or worse, image gets dozens of votes, look up "click cliques" in the search box above.
Votes on here count for absolutely nothing.
I notice Matt that you only joined EPZ in November 2011, you have to work at getting people to visit your page, there is no instant fame.........I have been on EPZ less than 6 months and I'm slowly building up a following. I visit all the other categories and either vote or comment on images that appeal to me.
I'm always looking out of my genre in Photography to check other people and their likes.......only recently I've started to give out my user award, which I find rewarding to give.
Start visiting other peoples work and you will find that these people will reciprocate, then you build up followers of your work..........it takes time and effort from you to make the site work for you.
In a years time you'll wonder why you made a fuss...........slowly slowly Matt.........you'll get there
As Ian says I didn't know you existed and you didn't know I existed..........but we do now.![]()

Or, being positive, you could actually make it count for something by voting on stuff you think is excellent. Look at the GE Award. People who care going round and making what they think is good get an award...and it generally works really well. If a few more of the people who say it's rubbish actually did something to make it good perhaps you would no longer be thinking that.
Thanks 'NaturesHaven' i can appreciate the comment I think I need to be more patient. I will try and calm it a bit and work on your suggestions. Its good of everyone to respond to this in such a good way does help with the learning process and does show that my voice is still being heard.
Thanks Pete for your contribution too, from my point of view the votes I administer are to photos I genuinely like and where I can I leave a comment from my point of view. I really like this site and have learnt soo much already and I think my little rant was my frustration getting the better of me. But saying that some good has come from it as I have received some good feedback and direction for future ventures.
Also Pete i would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to have a go at the Guest Editor spot, I will do my very best and will apply everything I have learnt thus far.
Thanks again everyone for their contribution.
Matt
Votes can be a good comparison within your own portfolio but if you want extra critique why not try Ade's Group ..tell it like it is
Matt.
dont worry the work in your pf is fine.
getting noticed is getting much more difficult these days. the number of uploads per hour means you have come and gone in minutes and unless you hit a peak viewing time and there are peak times, (you can check how many are on line). but everones hit count has dropped from what i can see.
if you have been around a few years, been to a few meetings and got to know a good few members then you tend to be put into favourites and then those members will see each time you upload. many only vote this way to eliminate all the trawling. many members think there are too many uploads now and possibly its time to restrict them.
im sorry i hanvt met you before on here and to answer the question, yes Sundays do attract less votes.
those in the hundreds tend to be of a specific genre, sunset glowing seascapes by a few exceptonal workers who have built up a pretty much well deserved huge reputation and following and appear in loads of favourites files. you need to upload regularly and be seen in the forums and galleries and sooner or later you will pick up a following.
sometimes called clique clicks or selective viewing, depending upon how you view it, but to be honest it dosnt really matter how many clicks you get. recognition is nice though and really it would be nice to separate the large number of daily mobile phone uploads of grinning teenagers and garden flowers etc from those who are perhaps a bit more serious. then we might see those worth commenting on. problem is they need encouraging to take up the hobby too and the advertisers all market to them.
ill tab you and look at your uploads
Phil

I used to vote on stuff that I thought was excellent, or at least deserved recognition because I thought that that was the best way to show my appreciation of someone's work.
I was even pleased to receive votes on my own work until I realised that it was possible to manipulate the number that you received after which, it all seemed a bit shallow so I stopped voting altogether.
I don't even know how many votes any of my images have received.
Sorry if that all sounds a bit negative.
