An all-too-familiar site here in Scotland, and a thoroughly unwelcome one in my eyes. Earlier this year I asked one what the occasion being commemorated was, and he didn't know. (So they'd made a racket and kept me awake when I was on night-shift, and couldn't even tell me why.)
Can somebody please tell me what the Orange order is all about?
Growing up in Liverpool as "a supporter of LFC", I've seen the marches but never felt the need to ask about the order.
In Essex I think they see the Orange Order as a group of extreme fake tanners ...

So is the slave trade.
There are some divisive parts of our history that serve no part in our present or future except to perpetuate division and hostility.

The source of man's unhappiness is his ignorance of Nature. The pertinacity with which he clings to blind opinions imbibed in his infancy, which interweave themselves with his existence, the consequent prejudice that warps his mind, that prevents its expansion, that renders him the slave of fiction, appears to doom him to continual error.

Not for me, my family tree dates all the way back and has important links to a certain person.
I agree that they should be ignored.
Why are they all men?
Why aren't they at home helping their wives do the housework or something useful?
Why can't they see that they are a right bunch of daft t..ts?
Why haven't they been sectioned?
Is their I.Q way below average?
Ah, well such is the "rich" tapestry of life...![]()
