Are you seeing what I am seeing??

I just don't get it. I am coming across some pictures that are so bad, that even my 8 year old can point out what is wrong with it, and yet there are comments such as "looks great" "superb shot!" "Great pose!"

I think what bothers me is that some of the comments are coming from photographers that are really good, and I know that they can't possibly think it's a good picture.

I can understand if they are trying to be encouraging, but it seems like encouragement mixed with some helpful tips would be better. That is what I try to do. I just can't leave a "looks great!" comment when it is so blatantly bad.

No. Welcome to the world of the 'Clique Club' Lisa.

It's a well-known phenomenon on all online, photo-related sites.

There are myriads of Forum threads on this 'phenomonum' - both here - and on 'other sites'.

Bottom line..???

You're dead right!! We just have to live with it.

best thing you can do is not do the same thing yourself, and possibly write what you think, regardless of reactions

Tis true, I am feeling braver already.
Seriously, I am very polite when I critique, and havn't had a problem as of yet with anyone getting upset with me. In fact quite the opposite.

Write what you think, politely and reasonably. If you think it's a clique club, just ignore it, or go for the critique angle, following the critique guidelines (I've tried this one and actually got a really nice email thanking me for my input). If you get any abusive pm's, hit the abuse button.

Oh, and nice thread Click Smile
