    Process them in colour in Photomatix then do the monochrome conversion in your image editor of choice ..... more control that way.

    Just do a standard colour conversion, then use your prefered conversion method in PS with the resultant file. Just reducing the saturation in PM is less than adequate (at least for my tastes).

    Edit: I should learn to type faster !!!!
