    Hi all this is my first post and i am looking for some help, i am just starting out, i have got a canon 40D slr and love it, i have also brought myself a backdrop and support stand, and i am now looking into lighting to get me started, i am on a tight budget and am looking for some flash lighting with trigger etc, can anyone reccomend what i should get, it could do with being cheap unfortunatly cant afford to go out and buy bowens lol just looking for something to get me started x

    On a budget and if you would like portable have a look at YN560-II Manual Flash (ebay about £50), great power output fast recycle times. Add a couple of lightstands and umbrellas.

    Firstly have you a single flash unit.

    Seems a little strange to go for a background support system if you have no lighting at all.

    As well as flash lighting, you can use much cheaper bulb constant lighting, though flash is good for freezing movement and stopping pupils from shrinking in the bright constant lighting.

    How big is the subject you are shooting? is it table top products/pets etc or full length people shots?
    Do you want bright fashion shots or moody one light images?
