Which is the best one.... for photographers... on a day out....
There are loads - and lots of "splinter" dales (like Littondale off Wensleydale).
Airedale/Malham is up there, I love Wensleydale and Swaledale is probably the most impressive... but can be tricky to "capture" in a photograph, as it's very narrow towards the top (at Thwaite and Keld).
Where have you had your best photographic experiences and why?

That's a tough call, love both Wensleydale and Swaledale, not really explored the rest, apart from the occasional grab shot, when i was delivering around them.
Have in recent years done a fair bit of walking in Swaledale, and there are some great locations, a particular favourite is the old mine workings dotted around, but i've never quite got THAT shot of them. Also spent a ridiculous amount of time wandering around Richmond, trying to find a different view of the place, think i'm starting to get there with that little project.
This is one of my favourites, taken above Reeth.
And then there is this which is one of my favourites of Richmond Falls.
But to be honest plonk me anywhere in the Dales I'm a happy man
Have you visited the Waterfall at Harmby, just out of Leyburn?

Its a wonderful part of the country and every Dale has its interesting places. Must stop off at The Buttertubs in June!.

Going to try to get a spot up there when Le Tour hits Yorkshire next year!
Oooh, I love Buttertubs. Keld to Muker walking - fab. Asgrigg, Malham, you name it. Usually rent a cottage in Gunnerside when we're up that way and look out for the fish and chip van. Yorkshire Dales are one of the best areas in England.
Its a great place Slowsong, we visit every year in June and stay in a old miners cottage near Arkengarthdale about 200 yds from the CB Inn.
CB inn... not been there... good beer?
Airedale and Malham is another classic of course - though mainly only interesting at the malham end.
I love the higher roads along teh tops of the wensleydale/swaledale valleys, get some great views from there.
There's another great high winding road in Swaledale that's similar to Buttertubs Pass but I can't think of the name of it or where it goes. It's in the same area. If anything, it's better than B'Tubs, if only I could remember it.
Monsall dale has it's attractions - you never specified Yorkshire
