Hi Dazzaman
There is a useful sharpening action in the Downloads section. I am assuming you have photoshop??
The trip is to get it as sharp as possible without halos!!
Then when you resize, sharpen the image again => Filters => Sharpen
I use layer masks just in-case this final action over-sharpens some areas.
Hope this makes sense!
Well all I do is whack it up to max in Camera RAW (CS4) then I use smart sharpen when the file is open to adjust it if I think it needs it. They seem to print ok so I guess it works for me.
Sutty is the sharpening god, but last time he told someone his method they told others and he had to kill 'em ![]()
Learn to use Smart Sharpen in advanced mode is the future imo. But I also like to go into channels, pick the best one paste that as a new layer and run a high pass or 2 on it, then make it an overlay, soft/hard light layer. It's a sweet method, if you need anymore info Dazzler, PM me by all means.
I just use good old unsharp mask for everything and nobody here has ever said there's owt wrong with any of my pics.
And no customers have ever said there's owt wrong with my prints either for that matter. ![]()
When you say 'Canera RAW' what exactly do you mean??
In camera, which in that case is easy, cameras do not add sharpening to a RAW image, just to the preview on screen.
Or do you mean in something like Lightroom or Capture One?
I use the lab colour method of sharpening. Here is a youtube tutorial on it. It is very effective and non destructive.
