Panasonic Lumix range is worth looking at
Thanks for the reply..
I already have a Panasonic Lumix which hasn't really performed that well in low light situations so I don't want to use it at this concert as I am looking for the best pics possible.
I am very fussy lol
If you are prepared to pay a bit more the Canon S95 is worth considering.
I could go higher price wise so i'm just reading the reviews on the Canon S95.. Ideally looking for a longer optical zoom though.
I switched from a Panasonic TZ10 to a Canon Ixus 230 HS and am happy I did so.
Price wise it is spot on for you.
My Lumix LX3 is brilliant in low light situations, and has the advantage of optical image stabiliation. I'm sure you could pick one up for the sort of money you're talking about. The only problem for you might be that the fixed Leica zoom, whilst lovely and wide and sharp as a tack, doesn't have a long focal length - it only goes to about 60mm in 35mm terms.
Thankyou for all your replies.
I have decided to order a Canon S100 after reading some reviews, I hope is was the right choice.
Excellent - I'm sure you won't regret it. About 75% above your original budget, though?
Managed to pick up a new one for £289 so it was a little more than I wanted to pay so no food on the table for the family this week
Gosh, that sounds like a bargain. Where did you get it from? Cheapest price on here is £359.
I ordered it from a company called Photodirect on Ebay
I had a feeling it would be eBay!
Oh and if I were you I'd message the seller asking if it comes with a Canon UK warranty.
It says at the bottom that it comes with a minimum of 12months warranty.. If Canon won't cover it I will expect Photodirect to cover any repairs.
