Inspired by the latest caption competition:

Is it just the guys who carry cameras with big lenses?

Or do the gals as well?

And what does it say about either of them?

    I don't have a big lens!

    I have (fixed) 50, 75 and 150mm lenses!

But, then again, I drive a Mini, so...

I guess I'm slightly guilty. I'm usually using a Sigma 50-500mm. There's probably something Freudian in there.....

Then again, given the 50-500 is pretty heavy I always claim carrying it is a substitute for weight lifting/regular exercise.

As a gal, to use your terminology I do have a large lense a 70-200VR and 180mm Macro, both hefty beasts.

I think it says I take my photography seriously and want the best I can afford. I also love the look on some blokes face when his wife/girlfriend points out that I have a bigger lense.

Little bit more exposure on the car next time, would bring out the colour a bit.

Biggest lens I've ever had was a 70-210mm. Guess that isn't all that big.

Well you know what they say about blokes who drive big cars...... "overcompensation" !!!

Maybe that applies to lenses as well? Grin

But carabosse - how does that apply to the ladies?

    210mm is 8.25 inches.

But it's not really that big because of the telephoto construction.

    Example: 100mm @ 70mm focal length, 130mm @ 210mm focal length. (Push-pull single touch type).

Hmmm... never seen a lady with what I would call a big lens, say 300mm or above!

I don't think Cheryl's lenses are that big. Grin
