Contact canon about your warranty or any other company that may cover it under insurance. (e.g your household insurance or separate lens insurance).
They will give you advice on who to send it too (for separate insurers) or canon will give you an estimate for repair.
In all likelyhood the person who carries out the repair will label it is "un-economical" and then a brand new lens will be sent to you.
Was it insured?
If so I would claim.
If not insured, I feel it'll be an expensive repair.
Just my opinion but seek further advice from other members.

Sue has just got her 10-20 repaired by AJ Johnstone. Was done on house insurance. Seem to have done a good job and were easy to contact by phone. They can do an estimate free of charge. link
