We're stuck with BT because no cable companies service us out here in the sticks. (4 miles from Wokingham). We have Sky and I asked at one of their shopping centre kiosk things last year. We have the full package so thought, by their advertising, the Broadband and calls would be more or less free. But when he put our Postcode in his laptop it told him nope sorry we could only get BB if we paid an extra £17.99 a month. Needless to say I felt I was being ripped of and haven't moved from BT. I went to the BT website a month or two ago to vote for the Infinity thingy and it said I didn't need to bother as it was already coming to our area!! I will believe this when I see it!! we barely get 1 meg at the moment so anything would be an improvement. Living out of town is good but it has the oddd drawback you need to learn to live with. Smile

You will see the large green infinity boxes popping up in the street along side the exchange boxes you already have and loads of vans and BT engineers milling around for a month or so before you go live, we saw them most days

Quote: It's those little add ons that put me off and their refusal to do a deal.

The guy who phoned me last Friday implied I would get a better deal through him than going direct to the website, so will see if thats correct when he calls me back this Friday.

I tried the online chat option with a BT advisor as we were supposed to get a call back a few weeks ago, still waiting :-/

Be good to know how you get on, I shall keep trying as you never know they may just do it.

Think I will probably go for option 3 (broadband and weekend calls) but not sound too keen, in hope he gives me a better deal. If not, will probably still go for it, I'm getting tired of broadband that sometimes seems little better than the 'old dial up'.

That's one I have been looking at, seems with each package they dangle a carrot on the next one (such as no activation fee), it's the weekends only that is my real sticking point if it was evenings and weekends I would have signed up today.....

I seem to average between 23 and 28 most days, but I`m sure is measured in Megabits.

well I currently get 2 meg, and that would go up to 30 meg

got to assume it's bits really - 30 megabytes/second would be pretty impressive!

I had an offer for BT`s infinity but I can`t see myself gaining a great deal, I`m just 500 yards up the road from the exchange, still on copper and my connection speed flies most days.

Well, they called me back this evening as promised, and I signed up for it. Price was just the same as going to the website though, so no cheaper going via telesales. I was quoted my download speed would be approx 33meg, and my upload speed capped a 2meg, both of which are big improvements on my current provision. Arrives just over a weeks time Smile

Pretty rubbish, I can get 4 meg now and 5.5 in may when I am currently getting 6 doesn't seem a good deal to me, Infinity won't get here for a decade or so.....

I'll look them up again in 2020 ... Smile

Theres also an additional perk included. As part of the package, BT provide McAfee virus scan which I currently use, but have to pay an annual subscription for (last payment was £43.99), so that will be an additional saving for me. Recent reviews in PC mags have rated McAfee lower than other similar programs, but if its going to be free in future, I won't mind!

Bit the bullet and will have it on the 22nd Feb, Talk Talk was getting slower by the day the internet hardly useable, iPlayer and the like just don't work with it. Oh well 35 Meg here we come, just over 50 times faster than I get now GrinGrinGrinGrin
