It seems some residents want to change the name - can't think why?

I'm more confused as to the article saying how the word "Butt" originally meant "Target". And I am not sure I want to know how the change in meaning came about either.

I've driven past there and laughed a couple of times!

Hi Simpic - you've started something now. A quick check reveals there are over 50 English meanings of "butt" - and one of them relates to archery or shooting practice.

You learn something every day LOL

Actually quite the opposite they like it Wink This one however was changed...

There's plenty of others too, including Twatt (there's two of those), Fanny hands lane, Bell End and Minge Lane

Ahh school boy humor Smile

There is a "Manhood Lane" near Selsey in West Sussex - lots of houses there...............

I've always been told there is a "Lickey End" in Birmingham by a work colleague - but he can't keep a straight face when telling me so..........

I think we need photos to prove it's not a wind up..........

We could start a new thread "What's in a name?" and in order to post - you need a photo of said name....

In Portland in Oregon there is a place called " Wankers Corner " which they insist on calling "Wonkers"... oddly enough loads of Brits have their photos taken by the sign Smile

I feel sorry for those living in Crapstone, even if it is on the edge of Dartmoor.

On the outskirts of Bern in Switzerland is Wankdorf. Dorf means "village" in German. And in Austria I think, there's a small town called "F*ck". And Switzerland also has a town called "Bitch".

If you scroll down, there's a picture of a very happy-looking kangaroo, under the slogan 'grab your nuts'. Now, I'm sure it's a perfectly innocent depiction of a kangaroo placing nuts in its pouch... or is it? You decide. Wink

Is there really a village called "Shitterton" in Dorset?

My son always laughs when we drive past "Sandy Balls" in the New Forest.

I can't keep a straight face this afternoon - ah well, it's a Friday smile Smile
