Warning from Trading Standards - bogus website
Bexley Trading Standards Team is warning residents about a bogus website allegedly located in Crayford that offers low-priced electrical equipment and accessories.
buygreendot claims to be based in Bourne Road Crayford but the address is false and the telephone number given is in fact a local private residence.
The appropriate authorities have been alerted but, in the meantime, Trading Standards' advice is not to place any orders on the website and don't give your credit or debit card details.
If you have already paid for goods, you should report the matter to Consumer Direct - the government telephone and online advice service - at consumerdirect.gov by telephoning 08454 04 05 06. If you paid by credit or debit card, you should notify the card issuer as soon as possible.
The information gathered by Consumer Direct will be treated in confidence but will help with subsequent investigations by Trading Standards and other enforcement agencies.
Quote: Hi there, I wish google was showing thread like this a week ago, I decided I really wanted a D90, around the time 'buygreendot' was set up.. and google shopping helpfully told me they are the cheapest (thanks google)
In short, I saw £470 as a bargain for a D90, and assumed they must have got the price wrong, and jumped at the chance to buy it before they realised.
After my order, and not receiving any reply from thier email, I was a little suspicious and looked around, but there was never any solid proof that they were a scam website. If you look around google today, theres lots of proof
I rang trading standards and they told me to wait a week before taking action, because you never know they could be real..
So, now I have no idea what to do! I'm £470 down, with no camera
If possible, I'd like to follow this up by tracing and charging whoever did this to me.. but I have limited knowledge of such things.. I'm just a poor guy who wanted a fancy camera and got caught up in something he didnt expect

My god, there is enough info on this site and many others about scams and bad traders that I would have thought was a great big WARNING.
I do not criticise you personally but -- the term "IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT PROBABLY IS" springs to mind.
Is it worth getting conned for £470 just to save a few quid - which in reality costs you a fortune! People just wont learn.
Deal with someone who is reputable even if you pay a few quid extra.
I saw this website a few weeks ago and noticed that the prices seemed so reasonable. I went to purchase but there was no drop down for Miss or Ms, only Mrs, Mr or Dr. I thought that's odd and from an experience where my card was rejected by Next because they put Mrs by mistake, decided not to order. Tried to go onto the site today but its gone. Googled the name and it came to this forum. Glad I never ordered now.
