Camera Recall.

4 Dec 2006 7:54PM
I thought I would let other members know that there is a product recall on any Minolta camera that is fautly. Hundreds have been fitted with fautly CCD's, and they will replace the fautly parts without charge.

My hubby's A1, developed all kinds of problems, then it just stopped working. One shop told us to "bin it, it's too old", (it's only 3 years), but at Wrexham Cameras they told us about the product recall.

The company to contact is -:

J.P. Service Solutions
Hempstalls Lane
Newcastle-under-Lyme
ST5 0SW

Tel: 01782 755366.

Hope this information will prove helpful.

Thanks for that, I hope you are right, as my A1 also has screen problems. I have e-mailed JP and will let you know if I get a favourable reply.

There is a batch of faulty CCD's affecting quite a number of cameras:

Canon (including my A75 - being repaired at the moment),
Fujifilm,
Konica Monolta,
Nikon,
Olympus,
Pentax,
Ricoh and
Sony (who made the CCDs).

There's an article listing the affected models here .

No it is not, it is quite a different type of sensor and a different manufacturing technology. The above problem affects compact/prosumer cameras using the Sony sensor. Canon have sensors custom made.

It also happened before the 30D was put into manufacture.

My apologies. Must just be part of a smaller batch then.
Bruce.
