how do you set the metering mode on the 300d? is it dependant on the mode or is there a seperate way to choose..?

yes i've read the manual..but my ESP isnt too hot at the mo.. lol

The 300D metering is set by its mode I am afraid, sorry. From memory it is evaluative in just about everything, but manual is average I think. No spot metering option.

There was a table in the manual that showed the metering mode I think, sorry I sold mine over a year ago.

You can get a firmware hack, WASI or something like that, that allowed you to take control of the flash exposure compensation.

thank you..i thought it was tied into the focusing points but was a gues, the manual breifly mentions it.. but..

Scan down This page and you will find a table that shows the metering and various other modes. In short, apart from Manual all are evaluative, except manual which is centre weight. Though interestingly if you use exposure lock it become partial metering.
