Is it on par with a 1dn . Had one of them and the ISo was not so good ?
But the AF was great .

Or to add to the question .....
Would a 5dmkIII be a better option ??
so 7D or 5dmk3 ??
The 7D is a very good camera though I was disappointed to begin with as noise seemed poor in comparison with the 5DII and 5D. Using L lenses dramatically improved the image quality over the 15-85 efs.
Things have improved over time as I have come to know the camera and also I have stopped worrying so much about noise levels if I need to go above 400 iso. I use a 70-200L on the 7D and picking the right subjects helps.
As above, I find the prints do not exhibit the level of noise that a monitor does. Using Lightroom to reduce noise levels works very well.
If you want very low noise levels then the 7D is not the camera to choose.
I should add that I find using a 1.4M1 converter on the 70-200L (f4 is) degrades the image on both the 5DII as well as the 7D and would suspect the 2x would not help matters on the 7D.
Well got a 7d today . Just been out shooting at 2500 ISo and 1600 etc .
Will let you know what I think about it .
Used a 300 2.8 with 1.4 .
Thanks to you all who gave advice .
its not to bad . better then i thought it would be.
one was at 1250 and the other at 2500
