don't worry - my wife has one and loves it. She wanted it for the IS as I have the 24-70 and that is one heavy brick of a lens. She loves it and has no complaints - you'll enjoy it

A superb general purpose lens with great image quality. Don't forget that if you're using a cropped sensor camera the wide end is only equivalent to about 38mm, but as you have the 18-55 already you should be covered for most subjects. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.....definitely worth buying.

    WinkLives on my EOS 1D.

Just swapped mine for the 24-70 for my wedding work but had no problems with it - superb lens and well built, dropped mine once and it never flinched and was still tack sharp - it was on soft ground though. Used to live on my 5D2, now the 24-70 is there all the time. Good for travel as well.

Great lens, no complaints with it except it's f4.
