    Hi all,

At the moment I own Canon 450D camera and I'd like to please myself with new lens. I'm thinking to buy a Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM Lens. It is a very expensive lens but I red many fantastic recommendation of this lens. I know that this lens was designed especially for full-frame camera so I would like to ask you if anyone has any experience of using this lens with camera such a Canon 450D? Simply, will Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM Lens works well together with Canon 450D? Any kind of response I very appreciete. Thanks.

It will work absolutely fine with a crop camera. I bet the majority of these that have been sold are probably attached to non-full frame bodies.

Will work very well with your 450D

But that is what I want too Colin, I'd like to use it for creative DOF for example in portraits or wildlife. I'd like to move my photography forward.

Wildlife the 70-200mm is a bit too short - it will take a 1.4 teleconverter really well (amost no image quality loss in the field and a very usable max aperture of f4) and I find it a great combo for zoos and wildlife parks where distance is not a key problem, but where versatilty in zoom is a great bonus (animal size and distance change a lot)

It can take a 2* telconverter, but it takes a notciable drop in sharpness and you really need to be in good lighting and shooting at around f8 to help preserve as much sharpness as you can.

For portrates its a wonder (so I am told Wink). If your more keen on the wildlife area I consider it half a setup - the other half being a good strong 300mm lens at least (f4 affordable f2.8 the expensive ideal)

    Quote: creative portraits

Not really sure what creative portrait is, any lens can be used for portrait if use creatively.
70-200 F2/8 is certainly a great lens though.

I have the f4 version of the Canon 70 -200 L lens. it is much lighter in weight than the f2 iS version I have been told, Also a lot cheaper! it is a brilliant lens - the results are so pin sharp I cant think why I'd need IS. I can really recommend the 70 -200 f4 L. it is superb. I use it on Canon 400D
