I have just come across a rumour relating to the EOS 3D.
If this is true it would be excellent news as I once owned the EOS 3 film body before I went for the 20D. I have decided to stick with the 20D until a few months after the 3D comes out.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
This rumour surfaces about every 6 months. The 1st time I heard it was a few months before the 5D. Still the 5D is probably up for replacement in October so who knows.
The question is does it bring any extra sales for Canon? It needs to be below the 1DS (or its replacement) to avoid conflict but higher in cost than 30D and 5D (if it continues) I could always hold out for a full frame 5D at 1000.

So soon?
I though Canon policy was 2 years.
I am not too certain Keith but here goes.
Well for a start it will be 2 less and that is worth a lot in terms of badge status.
Then there is the weather sealing (I know the EOS 3 does not have it but try telling the owners)
Then there is that eye focusing feature that I have not got a clue how to use but some people think its cool. And 45AF points , I know that most of the time I only use 1 but I could be not using 44.
Err I still fancy a 5D, just bring the price down.
I think everybody's missing why there will absolutley, nailed on dead certainly be a 3D at some point.....but apart from weather sealing, AF points and that eye focus...and ask yourslef why it doesn't appear on Canon's flagships..
...then what can Canon put in it...or on it.
I used to own an EOS 3 and I found the eye control to work about 70-80% of the time.
From the photo on the link it looks like a similar version of the 1D/1Ds without the weather sealing. This omission will somewhat keep the price down, but it does not bother me. It will also come with a dual hand grip - something the EOS 3 does not have.
I think I will wait for the 3D than get the 5D ![]()
