    Hi,

    played a little with one of these the other day and it seemd quite good as compacts go.

    I'm looking for something for my g/f when we go on safari next month and have been considering this having mow played with it a little.

    My question is is there anything better out there of is the S5IS best in class?

    Important things are... big zoom, IS, easy to use and great images of course. Coming from an SLR to mee all of these things seem to be pretty bad on image quality, but I think that is the norm with these? Noise seems dire in all of those I've looked up on...

    Any info would be much appreciated!

    I have found that most quality compacts produce very acceptable quality photos in good light at no more than 100ISO. Once flash is used my experience has been dire- dont know much about the new Fujis tho
