I use the LE version, very quick best bit of processing software I've used yet. I also know that a lot of people on this site also swear by Breeze Browser. Why not download a trial version and see which one suits your way of working best.

Well I suggest trying it against the freebie (unlimited "trial" version) RawShooter to see if Capture 1 is actually worth paying money for.

I have found RS very easy to use - even without looking at the 72-page PDF manual. And I'm hardly a No. 1 fan of RAW!! Wink

I'd go with CB on this one - try RawShooter. I've been using Capture 1 Pro v3.6 for a while and it is very good. But Rawshooter is a free unlimited trial, with all the features and then some - and it's VERY easy to use with some very cool bits in it. Try it, you've got nothing to lose.
If you're shooting with a Canon, then try DPP v1.5 - while not as slick and easy to use as the other two mentioned, it does have its plus points, particularly if you use a Canon printer as well...

ps Keith, have you tried this RawShooter software yet? If so, any thoughts?

Try RawShooter. I think it's very good. I can only compare it to Nikon Capture 4 (30 day trial), which I didn't like very much. If you dont't like RawShooter, you've lost nothing, it's free afterall. Please check that your system meets the requirements, it does appear to be rather system fussy.

Sorry to hear that Mike. Not sure how you got a PDF file. May sound stupid, but you are sure you clicked the "Download" button on the right of the page and not one of the four PDF files at the bottom. After you click this button they email a link to you that takes you to the download page. I've taken a look at the cameras that RSE supports and the MInolta Maxxum 7D is there,so that shouldn't be a problem. Have you checked the system requirements, that's one of the PDF files at the bottom of the page.

Rawshooter only works on XP I believe. There may be other restrictions as well.

I think it aint gonna work on your PC http://forum.pixmantec.com/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/48/an/0/page/0#48 sorry about the long url, haven't sussed the "click here" function on this site.

    quote from their forum:

    "* No Windows 2000 support
    * No Athlon or Athlon XP support (Black images)
    * Nikon D2H NEFs saved in NC wont open
    * Nikon D70: ISO EXIF missing from output
    * Files that resides on CF cards cant be edited
    * Some DNG files shows spurious colors (dark areas turning into blocks of bright red/blue)
    * Problems reading Minolta A1 and some Minolta D7 files
    * Problems reading Pentax Ist*DS files

We will deal with (fix) as many of these issues as possible in the update that will follow shortly. The update will be 100% FREE as well."

Maybe someone can tell me how to "Click Here"

Athlon XP is the problem. They are promising a free download of the modified programme to resolve this, so its worth getting the free download now. You have to register to get it and they say that means you automatically get the mod. (I've done it, it gives me a chance to play with the system so I'm ready when its sorted Smile
