reads like a politician's promise Smile it almost guarantees that there will be a new 5D soon; hence the tumbling in price of the existing 5D; we'll see; however for me the thing can stay on the shelf until any bugs are caught and sorted, it is widely available and the price has fallen.

These people usually have some second-hand 5D's, at what appears to be reasonable prices.

Would be surprised it was not 'planned' - but I do suspect it could be a few months off yet

Should make my comment a bit clearer, No replacement is "planned for release" yet.
I asked as wanted to see how much said camera would be if I traded in my 5.
Dont bother he told me september at the soonest, though a 400D replacement looks more likley.

Have noticed the 5s being more available though, when I got mine I had to wait a couple of months as they were out of stock all over, now they are in stock and being reduced in price.
Smoke screen anyone..................?

In answer to the question, 1199 + a tenner delivery from RGB labs near me, in Middlesbrough.

Sounds about right to be honest. The 400D was relased 18 months ago (doen't feel like it does it?) - so the next model is now due.

Unless Canon have something completely new up their sleave, I suspect that they will hold the 5D replacement for their autumn release.

With Nikon D300 and D3 so hot at the moment, if Canon does not release anything new and good soon, thats not going to be good, IMHO.

Despite Nikon's release of the D300 (I'll discount it's flagging big brother), and I love the D300, Canon remain in pole due to the fact that they will have camera's due for release, while Nikon will have to wait to catch up again.

Established users rarely jump ship and are simply on a another timetable.

Hmmm....when? Smile

What is the equivalent of canon to Nikon D3? 1Ds MK III? And what is the price difference?

*I am just being curious...:-p

Wrong way around, Cole. If the D3 is Nikon's top of the range then it's in direct competition with the 1Ds range.
