Quote:Good food has always been the birthright of every Frenchman. In the UK, good food has traditionally been just for the rich. Why else would Brits put up with what passes for food in this country?

If good food in this country has just been for the rich it has only been so out of choice. I see, every week, people I know who are on benefit, doing their shopping. They pile up 3 after 4 after 5 frozen pre-paid meals to be pinged in a microwave, for just one meal or just part of one meal eaten on their knees gawking silently at the TV, that together are FAR more expensive than a meal cooked from good, honest, fresh cooked food. Their trolleys are rammed with biscuits, crisps, pop tarts, sugary drinks, beer and then a last trip to the fag counter on the way out. I dont know why we respect our food so little but it isnt an economic reason ... I love watching programmes on TV that show the way some countries have such a totally different and special relationship with food, a love of food and the social rituals of family and friends and society that revolve around it and I love cooking fresh home cooked meals most days for my kids and partner - served at the table ALWAYS :o)

BBC Business News Report - "Town Centres must adapt to on-line shopping" - "It calls for them to focus on face-to-face service and opportunities for socialising and leisure activities"

City centre parking will be even busier if this is the evolution of shopping beyond the Supermarket and mall

Town Centres must adapt to on-line shopping
