What do you consider the best/most memorable, or classic tv or film opening sequences.
Mine off the top of my head for starters are.
2001 Space Odyssey, Blue Danube, near perfection.
Dr Who (TV), Perfectly matched sound effects.
BBC F1 (TV), The Chain.
Walk on the Wild Side, The prowling cat scene, must be a classic.
Also some of the 007 opening sequences.
Barbarella is engraved on my memory.
But train spotting and 2001 are up there too.
Hitchcock films have there moments. The start of Vertigo, and many of the Jimmy Stuart ones have great visual moments.
And lets not forget the start of Captain Scarlet,
The "coming down" sequence to "A Lighter Shade of Pale" - Withnail and I
One of my favourite Bond ones is the opening to Living Daylights when 002, 004 and 007 parachute onto Gibraltar in a training exercise that turns sour.
Last week I met the guy who played 004 - funny to meet someone you've seen on screen (though briefly) in an everyday context.
Quote: That is about 30 minutes into the film though!
Yep! you're quite right it is. ![]()
I'd forgotten about all the bits before it, just goes to show how powerful the sequence is.
I saw 2001 when it was first released way back in prehistory, and
that sequence hs stayed with me ever since.
Using the Blue Danube as BG music was pure genius in my view.
