Can PSP8 handle 16bits/ colour, or is it limited to 8bits - its just that I saw something ina USA mag that said it could handle various 16bit tasks.

Not 100% sure, but I've just tried to open a 16 bit Photoshop file in PSP8 and I get a message.. "The Color Model of this file is not supported", nor does it show up in the PSP browser - it just ignores any 16 bit Photoshop files. It's possible it may open 16 bit files in another format but I think it's more likely that if it did open such files it would convert them to 8 bit 'on the fly'.

I am pretty sure that PSP8 does not (yet) support colour depths greater than 8 bit per channel (i.e. 24bit).

Certainly none of the increase/decrease colours options go beyond 24bit and there is no option for 16bits per channel when saving formats that support it such as TIFF.

Loweskid's experience seems to confirm that.

I suspected as much - thanks for responding
