colour canon extender

Hi,

I have a Canon 1.4x II extender and a 1.4x III one. The 1.4x III one is slightly lighter in colour. Physically I mean.
I wonder if someone has both of the extenders too and would be so kind to confirm this mild difference in colour.

I am asking this because I suddenly thought my 1.4x III extender might not be a genuine Canon one!

Many thanks!

EFFS.

I seem to recall Canon changed the shade of white a few years back. If you have registered the item with Canon for warranty I would say it is original.

i thought the mk III was for the new canon L lens's , if you don't have one of those does the new mk III give better images than the old mk II ?

No, the mk III works fine with my Canon lens which is not the newest one. I just exchanged one of my two 1.4 II for the mk III so I can't tell you if the images are better. They are certainly good! It looks like the AF is slightly faster too.

As with the above comments..... Canon changed the shade of white on their new super primes, L series zoom lenses and Mk III converters.
I use both the 1.4x Mk III and 2x Mk III converters on my 300mm f2.8 IS USM II which Canon designed and paired them for..
