Convince me why I shouldn't treat myself to the Sigma 10-20 for my Sony A350.

I'm so close to getting the nice big wedge cash out that I have stashed and need to be 100% I'm doing the right thing :

I currently just have the kit lens and the Sigma 50mm Macro.

One of my favourite shots was taken with that lens Alison, it's a quality lens. Especially for the price.

My fav lens, Al, rarely off the camera since I bought it!

BTW - - try Ian Kerr (Kerso) before splashing the cash, he might be able to source one for you, got my Canon fit one for £45 less than the current going rats including postage. PM me if you want more details

You will have to change your whole approach though. Your style is consistently macro bar a few exceptions. Its a fantastic lens , hard to include and exclude for compositions. Your beautiful flowers will die with this lens, unless you want the whole garden. Your wyeth could work , but again you wont be minimalist with this.

So , yes , a brilliant buy , but do you see the world in a wideangle way ?

    Regards

    Dave

Might be prepared to negotiate a fair price for mine, Graham, as I never use it! Wink

Sounds like I need to spend some money then Smile

I'll PM you in a moment Fran - actually Warehouse Express have the best price so far but I'm willing to try Ian first.

Oh I'm happy to expand my views Dave - I'm lucky enough to get out into the Highlands every now and then and do need to get the big picture. My flowers won't suffer but it would be nice to branch out a bit without having to take two cameras where-ever I go. The Sony R1 actually has a good wide-angle and is an excellent walkabout camera but I could do with a wider spread for the A350.

Smile Graham - I'll bear you in mind!

I am unable to convince you not to treat yourself to a Sigma 10-20mm lens - go on, treat yourself, you know you want to Smile

Well I was toying with the Sigma SD14 to use for IR shots but then that would mean collecting a whole new lot of kit/lenses etc and much as I want to do more IR, I feel expanding my current kit is the more sensible route.

Hey - if I bought the lens I'd have change left over to buy a new fridge/freezer - I'm starting to miss mine since it snuffed it a month ago Smile

The world looks better through a Sigma 10-20 ..... sort of bigger and wider and altogether happier. I'd rather go out without my pants than leave my Sigma 10-20 indoors.

i guess you must be the only one here without a 10-20 or 12-24 of some kind and mainly sigma.
that must be reason enough, if you never try you will never know
