I wonder if anyone out there could enlighten me! I have been asked to photograph a fashion show that a group of students have organised as part of their A level leisure exams.

The location of this show is in a shopping centre that has a large central atrium with a clear glass ceiling. The show will take place on the ground floor ( the ceiling is 4 floors up); the 'catwalk' is the down escalater. All the surrounding lighting is largely fleurescent. Therefore I will have a mixture of sunlight and fleurescent light.

I have a Nikon D70. What sort od white balance should I use? Any other tips?
    Thanks
    Mary

Do you intend using a flash gun , Mary ?

I would use a flash gun as a filler to get rid of shadows and to help freeze motion etc

No, I don't have one. It is on my shopping list! Would you recommend any particular type? However no time to buy before the fashion show. Mary

Mary the pop-up flash should be fine. What lens are you using? I presume the 18-70? It would be nice to have a friend with you shooting with a long lens to get some shots as they come down on the escalator so you can focus on the waist-high and beauty shots when they pose at the bottom.

Mary, use the pop up flash for fill in, set camera to P, set your ISO to about 320 and your white bal to AUTO as you have a mixture of lighting temperatures and you can compensate any colour casts in post processing on the computer using the imaging software. Have fun and shoot loads of pictures, many more than you think you need !! and I agree with Steve (unusual I know !) about the poses at the bottom of the escalator.
