I've just discovered that the wine bottle was left open last night (red, left at room temperature), half a bottle left, but just tried a bit and it tastes ok.

What do you think - would you drink wine that had been left without the cork in for a day?

No probs. Get it down you! In these hard times, it would be a sin to waste it!

An oxidized wine is brownish in color (if it is a red) and has the unpleasant pungency nose. Its taste is acidic, perhaps reminding you of vinegar, leaving behind a trail of stuffy sensation in the throat.

attracted by the sweet odour flies have been known to venture into open bottles of wine and drown in it, the only problem with this is that you never find them till you come to the bottom of the glass or bottle as the case may be....that and they vomit into it. Although at this time of year you'll probably be fly free.

In pubs that sell little wine, I'm always loathe to order it, as although it has a cork in it, there is no way of knowing when it was opened, could have been months ago! Wink

Pour it through a sieve, the flies will be filtered out, if they are big uns you can wring them out.
