We're due to be going up there soon for a bit of a break, but I'm wondering about all this rain. Is it floodied up there like if was a couple of years ago?

I was up in the North part of the Lake District and to be honest they needed a lot of rain. The rivers were very very low, at least the rivers will have a good flow and should provide some exciting shoots. All done in completely safety of course.

It's always raining in Cumbria. It's the wetest place in the UK.

not at the moment. That "accolade" belongs to the south west just now.

You'll be fine Jules, there has been a lot of rain this last week but it has been a more constant rainfall overall rather than very heavy downpours or cloud bursts which tend to lead to the rivers bursting and flooding. The ground is very wet and the rivers quite high but seem to be coping quite well, well on the south west coast anyway.

The village of Seathwaite in the upper Borrowdale valley and surrounding fells are on average the wettest place in the UK and Cross Fell on the Cumbrian Pennines is average coldest place. We also have the highest mtn, deepest water and smallest church all in the same valley. There done my bit for tourism..... Smile

Thats maybe why they decided to call part of it the Lake district. They did have a vote and Dessert was not popular.

They shouldn't have called it the Lake District, that title is a little optimistic considering there is only one lake.
