Does anyone know the following about those two accessories:

What is the value of the d.c. voltage out of the EH-5, and is it stablised/regulated? Does it have only two connections, i.e. pos and neg, or is there a third one. If so, what is its function?

What is the purpose of the EP-5? Is it just an expensive connection adapter or does it have some electrical function too? If so, what is it?

I want to be able to run my D40x from ordinary everyday cells; C or D for example, and wish to make a suitable box/holder and, if necessary, a regulator for them.
