Have you actually got any links or sources to back up your claims?
EBay, HK retailers etc.
Quote: Like the one that the Nikon versions are more technologically advanced
There is Sigma 18-200 DC OS for Canon and Sigma 18-200 DC OS HSM just for instance
Quote: Or "Browse any on-line shop and you'll find same lenses from Sigma or Tamron at lest £30 cheaper for Nikon mount, than for Canon's"
It actually was a couple of monthes ago.

yes that is one of the lenses that sigma had to update due to the Nikon mount change that I mentioned.
No doubt the Canon one will change later but its not a great lens and it was not done to give Nikon an advantage, rather the newer entry level Nikon cameras forced the change. The old Nikon ones would have been discounted to get rid of them. Treat it as a passing quirk.
If you check the Sigma web site, where they have had to put in a HSM motor for this reason the RRP is normally higher for the Nikon mount.
Quote: I'm still after Nikon as D90 with CMOS sensor is comparable to Canon EOS 50D and the advantage of using old lenses unlike with Canon limited to EF(-S).
You are aware that the Canon 450D is also 12mp and will produce the same image quality for less money. Also due to Canon offering CMOS sensors in all its DSLR's for some time even the entry 100D will produce very good image quality.
So much so that for most conditions I bet you will struggle to tell the images apart printed at A3 size. What you get with more expensive cameras is enhanced performance (faster frame rate, better AF) and enhanced durability. For the price of a D90 you could get a 40D, naff all in it in image quality, but the 40D has the better functionality for photography and a metal body.
Also for lenses, you were aware of how big the EF and EF-S lens range is, and that with the simple use of an adapter you can use the Canon FD lenses, M42, or even Nikon ones :-0 All the Canon AF leneses will work on their modern crop DSLRs. Its not much of a limitation. Are you really going to be sticking older than 15 year old lenses on your camera?
Looking at my 7x5 or 9x6 inch prints back from D&P I sometimes wonder why I spent so much on digicams etc.
Looking at the 9 ft shelf packed with negative and print albums - extending across my den, I realise why.
Confirmed by the quality that I can get, when I need a print, from my Canon printer.
jas
Therion, I understand that you don't want to limit yourself to just these lenses
You bag would be half-empty. ![]()
