Oh good grief!
That's as much use to me as the last two!
Some of us live miles from any coast, so how about including rivers and lakes ![]()
Also, could you have not saved the coastal theme for the summer rather than April???? There is no way I am going back to the beach at night after last time, I couldn't feel my hands properly for an hour after doing that moonlight one and no-one else even bothered joining in!
Hehe, wow, i took images by the coast last night actually, looking up. The sky above the wash is pretty clear on a good night, minimal light pollution.
My image is here
Its been enhanced to show even the faintest stars.

We're not exactly overrun with images this time either.
Perhaps it's early.
Quote: I think the coast ones should have been planned for in the summer, who goes to the beach in the freezing cold unless you live there?
You didn't go and you do live there!
Your all softies, being by the coast this time of year at night is quite exhilarating.
You must suffer for your art ![]()
Maybe suggesting this idea be done later in the year is not such a good idea as that would mean a night time/sunset shot would be much later in the evening. At least this time of year the sunset is at a reasonable time for most people, sunset being about 1955 hrs at the moment.
As for being cold.. well thats what scarves and gloves are for
.
Plus, when it is high summer the days are a lot longer and there is light on the horizon pretty much all night long, handy if your after faint light but not so good if your pointing the camera towards the stars.
And i find a nice flask of coffee quite essential for a night at the coast, not many tea rooms open at midnight =o(
