The Cheltenham Racing Festival starts today so now seems the perfect time to try some horse photography. We have some tips waiting for you in the article section of the site then e2 members can upload their horse images here while our free members can upload images into the gallery.

You can learn more about Photo Month in our what is Photo Month thread.

I can probably manage some horse-boxes on route to the race-course but sadly will be unable to locate any neds Smile Really annoying as the race-course is only about a 20 minute walk up the road!

A Suffolk Punch (well part of one) - a breed that is now becoming very rare.

I've just thought of a possible subject - roll on lunchtime when I can nip out camera in hand - only three hours to wait......

Here's an image i did for a client. Autumn Sunrise is the horses name, he's an eventer. Always shot with available light as they get a bit to lively when you use a flash!!

Erm, what happened to my post and photo????

I uploaded it this morning and it was definitely there.

See? I have nothing but trouble where horses are concerned.

Sadly I couldn't find what I was looking for in town at lunchtime - horse related - but a colleague has just pointed this out on the hill behind the office......

Oh indeed they do take the horses up there. However I was rather more taken with the Paddy Power sign - it's all about the betting you know......

Oh and the racecourse is to the left and more or less at the foot of the hill - not that you can see it.......

Like discreetphoton I have thousands of these, this is one from Saturday when the Jockey on 6 equalled the record 287 career wins.

    OK, here's something slightly different . . .

    horses-18-12-09--2-.jpg

    . . . yes, that is a council house!

The horses had escaped from a field about a mile away during the night and had decided to take up residence in that garden.
As you can see, the residents did their best to make good the fence that the horses had broken. In fact they stayed there quite happily all day and were taken home about tea time!
    Jester.
