I came across this 20 minute video explanation of DOF that many may find interesting. Well worth a watch especially
towards the end where there are some good examples of where theory and reality don't quite match when using hyper focal length calculators.

It's a good video.
Lots of useful information.
Technical training is great BUT remembering that we can experiment "outside the box" is also helpful at times.
Great to follow the rules, fun to break them...either way can produces interesting photos.
