Could anyone be kid enough to tell me what the difference between these two lenses is, other than one being 75mm-300mm and 90-300mm?? The later one is cheaper and both seem identical other than this difference. Although i'm unsure what the III means.
EF90-300mm f4.5-5.6 USM
EF75-300mm f4.0-5.6 III USM
Anyone shed some light?

i think III just means that its the third model of this lens...
thats cool, just seems odd that that one is cheaper! and is 75-300mm
the first lens has a shorter focal length and so is probably better quality and gives better results, if it was the other way around then the 75-300 would prob be the most expensive
also with the 75-300 you get the extra third of a stop faster (because of the shorter focal length)
i havent used either of them, i use a Sigma APO MACRO SUPER II 70-300 which is in the same catagory as 75-300 USM and i think its a cracking lens and have read it performs better than the canon... its about 170 new...
oh, if you didn't know, USM is ultrasonic motor and referrs to the sutofocus system and its speed and noise...
The 90-300 is a very plasticy consumer lens. Don't expect anything marvelous from it. I had one and traded it in. The 75-300 IS has a better reputation, but not great.
I know this is cheeky and a blatant plug, but there's a 75-300mm for sale in the Classifieds. Seller is a really nice guy!
there are *two* for sale in the classifieds...
So there are! That one at 90 looks like a bargain (and no, it's not mine)
Mine's now sold and that one at 90 needs snapping up!
