    Re Digital Camcorders

Does the quality (in it's widest sense) of a 1 million pixel camcorder match that of a 1 million pixel digital camera, in it's snapshot (still frame) mode?

If the CCD delivers 1 million pixels on both then yes the quality should be similar. A still camera may have a slightly better lens, but the camcorder has the benefit of being able to choose the frame from a moving sequence so you could get an ideal freeze frame. Be careful though most only offer 320x240 still images.
