My son has a Olympus Slr which takes memory cards perhaps this is what they mean as some advertisments decribe these as digital film.
You could look up about which memeory the camera uses
I have just been to the site which you mentioned and the Nikon SLR takes "Compact flash cards" which are small card which which your pictures are stored on when you take them and you can transfer the images from your camera via a lead from your camera to your computer. ( you probably already know some of this but I have written it in just in case you are new to digital). The pictures can be deleted and the card reused again. I assume that the 35mm film can be used as well in the Nikon Slr.
I use a little Fuji Finepix 2800 which is like a miniture SLR as you can see what you get the same as a full size Slr.
I have ordered an adapter for it so that i can attach filters as well.
If you would like to see some pic's from this camera you can find them in the reader gallery.
Go to Portraits/people and look for "A Christmas Rose" I am really pleased with this little camera and is more affordable.....|Hope this helps a bit........Tina
I can promise you, you do not need film with a digital SLR and I couldn't find anywhere on the site you mention that says you do.
What I did find though is that in the US you can get the Canon D60 for 1800 dollars, and over here it costs 1800 quid. Which is about 2700 dollars.
It's a damn disgrace.
I clicked on the Nikon D1 digital Slr on the site, just under the picture of the camera it say's optional accessories 35mm film which , if not needed is totally misleading.
I would recommend Digital any day. so much cheaper than film.
I take hundreds of photo's and all it costs is the price of a disc or ink and paper to save them on. I use discs most of the time.
If they're saying "I assume that the 35mm film can be used as well in the Nikon Slr." about the digital, that's not true at all. The digitals are PURELY digital, they can NOT take film as well, just as the film SLRs take ONLY film, and cannot shoot digitally.
Digital cameras shoot onto memory cards only, and film cameras shoot onto film only.
There are no hybrids that you'll ever see unless you are talking about $20,000.00 backs for medium format, which isn't likely.
