I'm getting my new puppy on Thursday. Yey!!! A black and white jack russell. Me and my not so better half can not agree on a name for him!!!

The ones that we have been considering are Scampi, Snoopy, Bailey, Diesel and Charlie. I quite like the idea of calling him a blokes name (i.e. like Charlie) but most of the names we come up with remind us of people that we don't particularly want to be reminded of (long story!!!).

Have any of you got any ideas?

I like the idea of really ordinary or even out-of-favour male names, somehow - like Brian or Trevor or Mick. Yeah, I can see a Jack Russell as a "Mick" ! (and don't any Brians, Trevors or Micks on here take offence!!)

(p.s. Scampi is a crustacean - he might get confused!)

I had the same argument with my wife and youngest daughter when we got our Jack almost 3 years ago now. We settled on Lunar, she is now nicknamed lunatic which is exactly what she is.

Good luck with the name.

Why not look through the portfolio names? There are some absolute corkers!

Mind you, I am not sure I would like to shout "thearmsofvenusdemilo!" in a park ...

My favourite dog... Some very dear friends had a similar-colour 'Jack' many years ago and he was named 'Winston'...

Enjoy him. He will be incredibly loyal and great fun.

Sprocket. My Dad always wanted to call a dog that, but Mum didn't like it. Either that or Geoff, which I think seems like a good name, short & easy to shout.

Biffer!

Which is the same name as Jasper Carrott's mental dog......Kinda suits a Jack Russell I reckon.
