Hi Alan,

Tricky one to describe but here goes. As memory serves me, the Australian plus socket it a three pin socket. However, they are flat pins rather then round. Also, if you think of a triangle (with two pins at the top, one at the bottom)the two top pins are angled in at the top by 45 degrees:
