Might give it a go shortly, actually, I never yet suffered the notorious "dead camera syndrome" after a firmware upgrade.................

OK I have done the firmware update and................. the camera is still alive! Hallelujah! Grin

Canon's own site is logjammed but the fully extracted firmware file (5d200203.fir) has been mirrored here and that is what I used.

The new options are in the "Live View/Movie func. set." sub menu. After the firmware upgrade the camera cleverly guessed I am in a PAL area, rather than NTSC and has set the frame rate to 25fps. Smile 24fps (23.976 to be precise) is also selectable and if you want 30fps (which has now been adjusted to 29.97 fps but still shows as 30) you have to change PAL to NTSC first.

I have given the camera a brief try out. All seems to be well. Will give it a more thorough go in the near future.

There are very few reports of problems - I looked on the dreaded DPR forum... where even if there aren't problems, people will invent them! Grin

Just a couple of people have reported an "Error 70" message after the firmware upgrade but this was the response:

Quote: If you updated the 5D MK II, your upgrade file might be corrupted. The Canon servers were badly overloaded, and I got 3 corrupted downloads before getting a complete one.

Try downloading again when the servers are not do busy, and re-installing the firmware.

That's why I waited a couple of days, and will wait again to see if there are any problems reported with 2.0.4.
