I don't get too much time these days to browse the gallery but every time i do it seems to be full of rubbish 'snaps' of naked slappers ... they offer no photographic merit whatsoever and are merely tits-out-for-the-lads pics ... whats going on???
can we not have a 'tits-out-for-the-lads' section to differentiate between quality artistic nudes and these tragedies ... it must be bad for the site in terms of attracting quality photographers ...

Well you can put the adult filter on, which should remove all nudes. Differentiating between arty and tacky is rather a tricky job but Pete has devoted years of study to the problem and is hoping to come up with a definitive definition in the next 20 years or so!

You can filter or differentiate on content but not on artistic merit. One man's art is another man's pretentious twaddle.

Im still not sure whats considered porno and what isnt ... half of the explicit shots on here arent as sexually orientated as some of the less revealing ones ....

For instance is it ok to show female genitals? if so how much? How much arse can be shown? When is it tasteful when is it not? Whats the dif between erotic and porn?

Fabio_rossi had posted a relatively explicit pic that wasnt removed and Alistar posts quite a few .. some of which are removed.

Do we have a definitive guideline on this?

Funk, I agree, I've reluctantly turned on my adult filter, whilst I appreciate a good study of the human form, the tits out shots are just a bit tragic. I do occasionally turn it off to look at home, but you have to sort the wheat from the chaff.

    pornography
    noun
"printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings."...

but my point is not so much about the subject matter but more about how the subject matter is treated ... ie .. no thought about the 'photographic' techniques ... just the same 'snap' repeated over and over again but with different models ... with these 'snaps' there is a lack of creativity, lighting and originality ... therefore is it not porn?

my main point of this whole saga is i think it is bad for this site in general ... it would be hard to take this site seriously as a photographic site had i just stumbled across it.

Not necessarily, on that description it's just unimaginative photography...

I agree with you Neil ... but sadly those who capture such images get "something" from it and want to share whatever that is with us .... even if we dont want to share ... its the way of the world mate

That goes for a lot of other photos on this site too (I know, I took most of them).

Presumably all the members of the site who take what you consider to be "tits-out-for-the-lads" would consider their work to be "quality artistic nudes" so nobody would upload anything to your suggested new category.

Adult-tagged photos can only be seen by members after they have signed up and logged in, after which it is too late - they have already been dragged into this world of depravity and debauchery from which there is no escape.

Yes, there is some rubbish in the "Adult" category as in all the other categories but overall the standard of photography on this site is incredibly good. You've just got to take the rough with the smooth, and if you can't take the rough then, as lobsterboy says, filter it out.

I totally agree that the 'Tits out for the lads' pics are annoying. But a photo is a photo at the end of the day and imo they have just as much right as all the other stuff on here (within obvious reasons of course, I don't want to be seeing old 'Hustler' pics for instance).

However, lets be right most of them are no where near as bad as the snapshots of landscapes etc that constantly get over 50 clicks a day. This site is at an all time low for me, to read the comments on pictures posted here at the minute everyone is 'brilliant' at what they do, everyone takes 'fantastic' pictures with 'perfect light' and everyone loves each others work.

Whilst I don't mind people being nice to each other (far too little of it in this world imho), there is only so much niceness one can take. The 'Tits out for the lads' pics at the moment for me are quite refreshing Wink
